Sonia was named the Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year in 2022 for Joint Base Lewis-McChord. With this recognition, she was able to represent the JBLM, WA installation at the week-long military spouse conference in Washington D.C., bringing forth the voice of military spouses and military connected families in the South Puget Sound area.
Sonia was invited to participate as a mentor in the 2022 University of Washington Milgard School of Business Center for Leadership and Social Responsibility Women’s Initiative Mentorship Program. With this program, Sonia was paired with a University of Washington business student to mentor, guide and create lasting relationships with a student.
in 2022 Sonia was invited to participate in the 45th cohort of the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber of Commerce Business Leadership Academy, where she, along with her selected class, met with local leaders of every major industry.
Sonia was one of 50 (out of 900 applicants) to receive an invitation to participate in the Military Spouse Advocacy Network’s Military Spouse Leadership Development Program in 2022. As part of this prestigious program, she graduated with a graduate certificate from Harvard Leadership Institute, the MacCrystal Group and Psych Hub.
